MoTeM – Museum of the Mind ist eine öffentliche Kulturinstitution in Nürnberg. MoTeM – Museum of the Mind is a public cultural institution in Nuremberg.

Das Museum untersucht, wie Menschen unter sich verändernden Bedingungen Orientierung herstellen. The museum examines how people establish orientation under changing conditions.

Im Mittelpunkt stehen Fragen der Wahrnehmung, Entscheidung, Handlung und des Übergangs. Its central fields are perception, decision, action and transition.

Anders als klassische Museen beschäftigt sich MoTeM nicht primär mit materiellen Objekten. Untersuchungsgegenstand sind Formen menschlicher Orientierung im Alltag sowie die Bedingungen, unter denen Entscheidungen entstehen, verändert oder aufgegeben werden. Unlike classical museums, MoTeM is not primarily concerned with material objects. Its subject of inquiry is human orientation in everyday life and the conditions under which decisions emerge, change or are abandoned.

Die Arbeit des Museums erfolgt in Form von Experimenten, Installationen und Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum. Öffentliche Orte werden dabei zu Untersuchungsorten, an denen Fragestellungen sichtbar, erfahrbar und dokumentierbar werden. The museum works through experiments, installations and interventions in public space. Public places become sites of inquiry where questions can be made visible, experienced and documented.

MoTeM entwickelt ein öffentliches Archiv zur Dokumentation von Formen menschlicher Orientierung im 21. Jahrhundert. Dazu gehören Experimente, Installationen, Interventionen, Beobachtungen und weitere kulturelle Untersuchungen, die sich mit Orientierung unter Unsicherheit befassen. MoTeM is developing a public archive documenting forms of human orientation in the 21st century. This includes experiments, installations, interventions, observations and further cultural investigations concerned with orientation under uncertainty.

Die einzelnen Stationen sind über eine öffentliche Besucherroute miteinander verbunden. Die Entwicklung der Institution, ihrer Fragestellungen und ihrer Untersuchungen wird fortlaufend dokumentiert und archiviert. The individual stations are connected through a public visitor route. The development of the institution, its questions and investigations is continuously documented and archived.

Derzeit befindet sich MoTeM in einer Aufbau- und Forschungsphase. MoTeM is currently in a development and research phase.

Die bestehende Route umfasst mehrere Stationen zu unterschiedlichen Aspekten menschlicher Orientierung: The current route includes several stations addressing different aspects of human orientation:

Stadt als Teil des Museums The City as Part of the Museum

MoTeM versteht die Stadt nicht nur als Standort, sondern als Teil des Museums selbst. Cafés, Antiquariate, Schaufenster und andere öffentliche Orte können zu Trägern von Experimenten, Installationen und kulturellen Untersuchungen werden. MoTeM understands the city not only as a location, but as part of the museum itself. Cafés, antiquarian bookshops, shop windows and other public places can become carriers of experiments, installations and cultural investigations.

Besucherinnen und Besucher sind eingeladen, die Route eigenständig zu erkunden und die Entwicklung des Museums zu begleiten. Visitors are invited to explore the route independently and accompany the development of the museum.
